1. HINDU IS NOT THE ACTUAL NAME OF THE RELIGION

Many individuals are unaware that Hindu or Hinduism is a misnomer. The proper name is Sanatana Dharma, which means “everlasting truth” in Hinduism. The word Hindu comes from the river Sindu. People who resided around the Indus Valley, which the Greeks dubbed Hindu.

2. THE RIG VEDA OLDEST BOOK OF THE WORLD

Before 3800 years ago, the Rig Veda was composed in Sanskrit. The Rig Veda is divided into three sections: books, hymns, and prayers. A total of 10 books, 1028 hymns, and 10552 prayers are included.

3. NO ONE MADE HINDUISM

There is no identifiable creator of Hinduism, unlike other religions such as Buddhism, which was created by Siddhartha Gautama, Christianity, which was formed by Jesus, and Islam, which was founded by the Prophet Muhammad. Hinduism is one of the world’s oldest religions, having been founded by people who lived near the Indus Valley (Sindu River). After partition in 1947, the Sindu River became part of Pakistan.

4. SANSKRIT MOST POPULAR LANGUAGE IN HINDU TEXTS

Sanskrit ancient language which is used for writing in mostly Hindu texts and its minimum 3500 years old language. The Vedas, Bhagavata, and the two great Ramayana and Mahabharata were all given to us through Sanskrit. The Hindus’ holi function is where this language is most commonly employed.

5. HINDU IS THE THIRD LARGEST RELIGION IN THE WORLD

Hinduism is the world’s third most popular religion, after Christianity and Islam. According to a survey, Hindus comprise the majority of the population of India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Christian 2.2 billion people (32 percent of the world’s population), Muslim 1.7 billion (23%), and Hindu 1 billion (15 percent) are the next largest groups. Hinduism may become the world’s largest religion by 2050.

6. THE WORLD’S LARGEST RELIGIOUS PILGRIM GATHERING IN KUMBH MELA

Every three years, the Kumbh Mela is hosted in one of just four locations: Haridwar, Prayag, Ujjain, and Nasik. It arrives after a period of 12 years in the same location. Before the year 2000, the first Kumbh Mela took place. The Kumbh  mela’s date and location are determined by astrological prediction.

7. HINDUS HAVE FOUR LIFE OBJECTIVES

Every Hindu has four aims in life: Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. These give Hindus with possibilities to have a happy life by acting morally and ethically. Hindus strive to break the cycle of samsara by behaving in a way that results in good karma in this incarnation and the next.

8. HINDUS CHANGE THE WORLDS MATHEMATICS

Aryabhata established a decimal system of numeration around 500 years ago he had a critical contribution in determining the value of pie. Bharmagupta also defined the zero operation in 628.

9. TEMPLES ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF HINDUISM

In modern India, every hamlet and town has a temple, where people pray to God in various incarnations. The oldest in India is the Mundeshwari Temple,  which was built in 635E. And the largest Srirangam temple in Tamil Nadu.

10. 108 IS CONSIDERED AUSPICIOUS

In Hinduism, the number 108 is extremely significant. In Hinduism, a three-digit number is regarded as bad, but a 108-digit number is considered beneficial. Malas and japas beads are always sold in a 108-bead strand.
